WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Skaters ages eight and up can join the fun.  We group skaters by skating ability per the jump certificate included on the registration form.  We request that the skater's current coach complete the form

ABOUT THE CAMP

The "Point of Perfection" Figure Skating Camp offers a comprehensive instructional program in a setting where housing and training facilities are conveniently located directly adjacent to the ice rink.

Skating sessions take place at the Breezy Point Sports Arena, which is equipped with a 200' x  85' ice surface.  Camp participants are housed in the Arena Lodge which offers comfortable air-conditioned accommodations, dining hall, kitchen, lounge area, on-site barbecues, fire pit, volleyball court and twenty-four hour supervision. 

The camp provides a camp T-shirt, art and craft projects for participants during free time and campers are encouraged to enjoy the special camp outing planned each day.  Whether its mini golf, cookouts, swimming, shopping, scavenger hunts or boating, campers will enjoy all that Breezy Point Resort offers. 

Training Sessions Include:

Off Ice Training - Dance, stretch, off ice jumping, conditioning, yoga

Off Ice Classroom - Goal setting, competition & test preparation

Freestyle Class - Emphasis on jumps, spin technique & footwork

Power Stroking - Helps strengthen stroking technique and develop power flow, control and endurance

Edge Class - Emphasis on edge quality, extension, quickness and presentation

Free Style Sessions - 45mn sessions to practice or get private lessons from camp staff and guest coaches.  Lessons are optional and an additonal cost. Sign up is handled on a first come, first serve basis.

COACHING STAFF          

Barb Yackel, Camp Director, is the Events Coordinator for PSA.  A native of Minnesota, she is recognized throughout the skating community as tops in her field.

Kathy Casey, A World and Olympic coach, Kathy has over 30 years of coaching experience and is a past president of the Professional Skaters Association (PSA).

Amanda Truax, Chorographer and Dance Instructor, Amanda brings her pizzazz, spunk and creativity to our 2011 staff.  She has a diverse background in figure skating, dance, gymnastic and yoga.

The "Point of Perfection" professional skating staff is dedicated to providing the highest quality of instructions.  Each of them welcome and enjoy teaching group and private lessons.

LOCATION AND HOUSING

Nestled along the shores of Big Pelican Lake, Breezy Point Resort provides the perfect setting for a true Minnesota vacation.  Breezy Point Resort encompasses 3,000 acres with two 18-hole golf courses, a complete boat marina, more than 250 lodging units, restaurants, lounge and conference center.  Skaters and families may enjoy all of the recreational offerings that are available at Breezy Point Resort.  For resort reservations for the family, call (800) 432-377 or visit the web site at www.breezypointresort.com.  Families having participants enrolled in the figure skating camp receive a 10% discount on resort lodging.

Resident campers are housed in the air-conditioned Arena Lodge located on the same site as the Ice Arena.  The lodge provides bunk beds, lounge area, dining, kitchen and outdoor space for a variety of exercise and fun activities.  Resident campers will receive three balance, nutritious meals daily and two snacks.  Campers should bring sleeping bag, pillow, towels, swimsuit, toiletries and other personal items.  DO NOT BRING VALUABLES TO CAMP.  WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.

Breezy Point Resort provides on-site security and the lodge is staffed 24-hours a day.

Campers may indicate roommate preference on the registration form.  Listing a roommate preference does not guarantee enrollment of the roommate in the camp.  If no preference is indicated, the camp office will assign a roommate.
