Hello Lakes Area Hockey Families,
As we come to the end of another winter hockey season it’s time to start planning for the North Star Hockey League’s Spring Showcase Season at Breezy Point Arena. The spring season will begin Monday March 30th and end on Sunday May 3rd just as the youth baseball and soccer seasons start up.
Each NSHL Showcase Hockey team will have 2 half ice practices per week at Breezy Point Arena for a total of 10 hours of practice ice time. Each team will also play 8 games (2 per day) on 4 Sundays (4/5, 4/19, 4/26, & 5/3) in the northern metro areas of the twin cities. Jerseys for the players to keep are also provided. Players should register and participate on teams that are at the age level that they will compete at in the 09-10 season. (i.e. If they were a second year squirt this year then they will play as a first year peewee in this league)
This season teams will be formed and organized by coaches and or Parents. If you have individual player that is looking for a team to participate with you may complete and return the player waiver & liability form that is attached. Your completed form will be forwarded to all of the teams who are looking for and are in need of players to fill their rosters. We will make every effort to place all interested individual players, we are sorry but we cannot guarantee placement of individual players.
The cost per player on teams with full rosters is $145.00 per player, which works out to approximately $8.00 per hour of ice time per player. Some teams who do not have a full roster will be slightly higher per player based upon the number of players on the roster. A full roster is considered 15 skaters and at least 1 goalie.
Organizing and Registering a Team
Coaches or Parents who are interested in forming and organizing a team will need to complete and return the team reservation form, the registration roster, and the player waiver & liability forms that are attached, or they can also be downloaded from our website.
Step One: Team Reservation Form
There are a limited number of spots available for teams so anyone who is serious about putting a team together should submit the Team Reservation Form immediately with a deposit check for $500.00 or a credit card number to hold your team’s spot. Deposits will not be cashed or charged unless you fail to register and pay for a team by the registration deadline.
Step Two: Roster and Register Your Team
After you have made your team reservation and deposit you should start recruiting players and organizing your team immediately. Complete and return your team roster registration form along with signed copies of the player liability waiver form for each player that is listed on your registration roster along with the team fees as soon as you have your team organized and picked. If you need additional players for your team lease let us know and we will forward you our list of individually registered players that are looking for a team to play on.
Step Three: Select Your Practice Days & Times
After your team registration and fees are submitted you will get to choose your practice days and times on a first come first serve basis. Teams are not allowed to reserve practice days and times until their complete registration roster, all of their player waivers, and full payment is received.
The deadline to register a team is Monday February 23, 2009.
